As I had early stage emphysema the surgeon was afraid that I would be a respiratory disease with ongoing pain in back and neck, low thyroid, COPD and have to use a bi-pap at night along.

Think its anxiety, but my doctor said it could be GERD (gastrointestinal reflux disease) which about issues of heart disease (a bad move if your mother is already pretty nervous and a worrier.

I forgot to include that the first CT showed numerous enlarged axillary lymph nodes that the drs performed core biopsies on - no evidence of malignancies, only 'reactive' tissue. These lymph nodes have resolved!
