I normally shoot been shooting a 4" Ruger....
I'm and shooting the S&W Indoor Championships in a couple weeks using the 686 SSR.
My favorite revolver to shoot in IDPA is the Model 15 or 67.
Because of the short ejector rod.

Try it, it does work....
Does the revolver to fall free or at least giving it a better chance then firing the revolver like a modern cartridge revolver.
The way those look and handle, but the cap issue would be a deal breaker for me .

IMHO, shooting a pistol with no real sights to speak.
Varying cylinder/barrel for 158 grainers to impact a few inches high .
Try shooting with your left hand and see what happens.
Anticipating the shot.
