When I was in, we had this often and in many forms. Roast beef, yankee pot roast, open roast beef sandwiches, it was rumored to be incorporated in the cookies. What meals did you seem to get in abundance?

What's the difference between a roast beef and a bottom round roast? i know they come from the leg of the cow, but what is the difference as far as taste and texture (if that is the right word), and overall quality of the meat?

Don't take my word for it, go ask the butcher for a "roast beef".
Bottom round is a specific cut.
Roast beef" is a generic term for a large cut of beef cooked in dry heat.

...what do you think? What cut of meat would you use.
I have been asked to make that for Sunday dinner and I want it to be good. I don't want the shredded feel to it, I want to be able to slice it. I can't afford a rib roast so that's out.

A boneless eye of round roast, about 3 1/1 to 4 1/2 lbs.
