The one book that will always stand at the top of my list is Stranger In A Strange Land . It was the first Heinlein book I read and it fascinated me ... still does.
I loved the characters and the premise behind the book. It was a fantastic look into humanity...

Heinlein had severe problems with the concept of popular reaction to Heinlein's dismay with the popular resistance towards the US role in the Vietnam war, an also it's to Heinlein's credit that....

He's got a weird kind of conservative-FDR-meets-Libertopia thing going on that, aside from the military ****-worship and juvenile bluster, comes off as very sensible and appealing
But I could never quite understand or pigeonhole...

Heinlein published before '60 his "worst", though BTH strangely prefigures late-Heinlein).
