I use a core drill for sandstone for work but dont no if its legal to do it for a rod holder Easiest option would be to drill a 10mm hole as deep as possible and make a rod holder with a 10mm rod on the end to fit into....

I'd like to get my boat better rigged up for catfishing before spring gets here. I love the idea of having a lot of rod holders but I don't really want to go drilling a lot of holes. Any of you guys got any ideas?

Hobie wrote me back and said the rails are too light duty for rod holders.
I didn't mention that this was for freshwater. That might have made a difference in the answer I got. No big saltwater fish will be yanking on them.

If u own a clam or a clam style shanty this is an awsome set up. take 2 inch pcv and cut 2 peices that are 4 inches long. take two two inch end caps and drill a 3/8 inch hold in it, not in the center but off center quite a bit. on eatch end of ur shanty...
