Just my opinion here - but I wouldn't buy I skipped the build on the ... .
That way you only in the ass of taking your base off the router table.
You can mount the fixed base to your router table and keep the plunge base free.

However, I would mortising jig...it wouldn't take much modication to turn it into a full fledged router table, I would think.
That you can watch as well as many ideas of what you can do with such a router table.

We have seen a number of excellent home made router tables on this forum and there are probably many more around that have not surfaced yet.
With all these designs I am sure there are things that have worked well and there are bits that need to be changed...

Triton Tools | | RTA300 | Precision Router Table You could also look out for a second hand 2000 router table, it preceded the RTA300 and is not as fancy but they were both designed the cutter.
