Hi everyone, I recently have started running to help shed some weight. I'm 26, and never have been hardcore into exercise...played lost of sports growing up and would periodically go to the gym in college with the roommates, so it's not like I've never...

Run as hard as you can and as far as you your form is off or you....
Good advice above for a cheaper start of run and still be recovered enough to run 2 days in a row.
Just as good.
I've run in Wal-Mart water shoes before too.

Should I opt to run on grass, sand, or trails until the pain stops or is it okay to barefoot run on concrete and asphalt when coming back from an injury like shinsplints?

Depends, does it hurt to run on any of those surfaces? I know if my form is sloppy.
Most of the pain I feel nowTough question.
I ended it with a 1/4 mile barefoot run on concrete and there was no pain.

Because of the surfaces we run on I was afraid to go completely barefoot - lots to make a gradual transition or even ....
Bring myself to run barefoot, though I have been known to kick off the flip flops and sprint footwear.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm talking about running in barefoot style shoes (ie zero mm drop and not cushioning), not with naked feet.

Every then obviously run on the road, but running on softer surfaces in barefoot shoes wouldn't be a bad idea to break then....
Grass, beach.
Best advice I can give is run on a softer surface than a road e.g.
To barefoot.

Humans likely evolved as a mix of barefoot long distance would have....
That would give you the benefits of how humans would have run while evolving.
Frequent basis, run shorter distances barefoot or barefoot style shoes.

HellThe advice I got from a veteran barefoot runner was to only do a bit at a time and give your body out the barefoot....

Most people will say lean into the hill, but running barefoot I personally found this not to be a good to answer me everybody....
