My son is in town from the army and he talked me into putting a 71 ss dash in my 71 convertible. so i had one here with the harness and all. we took out the old dash and put in the new. now nothing works!

Ok, i put all the wire on the....
Malibu sweep dash and the SS style on the ss dash then there are lugs to match up on the engine harness connectors.
That will be the easiest way to determine if it was an A/C dash or nt.

Plus you will have to add wires for the ammeter and a loose wire to the tach. .
Did you get the wiring harness with your dash on the dash side.
Take a look at Jim Enrud's wiring diagrams.

You need the harness for the round pod dash.

Just curious on the outer SS cluster and of course all the other areas that usually have that chrome look but whenever Tom Rightler's 70 vert redo....
I look at other SS chevelle dash clusters they seem to be a high shiny chrome look.

It's hard to tell from photos ... is it silver, Flat/Glossy, Aluminum (doesn't look brushed from the photos)? I'm thinking about recreating it but I don't want to use spray paint. I want to do it right. My celi is Alpine Silver so I thought it would look...

Although you may lose that certain texture in the process.. .
Try it, and if you don't like it you can always go back to black .
Can't see a picture...but using proper paint to spray the parts silver should look fine .

Im looking at a 1970 SS454 chevelle with no build sheet and everything looks correct but it doesnt have a tach. Is this still possiblly a true SS.

Im actually going to look at it this weekend and just going over, 70 SS Chevelles....
Is a pretty good indicator of a real SS car IMO.Not many would go to the trouble of a dash swap that the round pod dash means SS too.
