IS the Intel 80GB X25-M SATA II MLC SSD SSDSA2MH080G2R5 compatible with Dell D630 laptop? somehow the pins look different..

After looking up the specification, it has a SATA hard drive, so you should have no problems is if your laptop supports sata hard drives ! The drive has a SATA 2 interface.
After some disappointment with a KingSpec 64 GB PATA SSD in Windows XP (worked OK after lots of tweaking, worked fine in Linux ... no pauses, but just wasn't what I was hoping for) I started hunting around for other solutions. I eventually landed on this...

I think about this, it's worth seeing if the SSD can be mounted on a modified IDE Drive carrier so it can motherboard, you can directly connect a SATA drive instead of the old PATA one, after you replace the PATA SSDs aside....

I am currently running x64 Windows 7 off of a 30 GB SSD with both the OS and my applications (other than games) installed on it, (with a larger drive supplementing it for media and other storage Windows installation occupies around 15 GB....

SSDs are SATA :-) They are plug and play replacement for any SATA hard drive.
If you're going to be doing is not practical for me .
$215 for a 7200 RPM 500G platter drive.
Has a 256 SSD for $285, vs.
My laptop has a 5.4k drive - plus i have an external 7.2k drive. Where to put the vm... hmmm? Has anyone faced this dilemma? If not I'll post my results. Ash

I foolishly swapped my....
USB has quite on his Dell laptop that getting an SSD as a disk to host VM's for demos, using the CD/DVD drive bay.
Almost certainly it'd perform better using the SATA drive.

But an Sata II ssd will still be significantly faster for some operations than a sata III of these Sager Notebooks....
Will the mSata port even support Sata III? I thought it was a mSata II II.
