A thermostat just starts to open at the rated temperature, not fully open.
Re: 180 vs 195 Degree Thermostat You should be getting at hotter reading there than if you moved from the mechanical gauge.
I broke down and did the thermostat Mod. I could not deal with the anxiety of watching my engine temperature climb from a usual 204 to 220 and sometimes 230 with a brand new L.R. engine and brand new L.R. head assemblies. 4 or 5 stock thermostats later...

And engine coolant temperatures too small I have the 195* stant thermostat and I haven't had a problem temperatures too small I have the 195* stant thermostat and I haven't had a problem.
The thermostat in my truck is cycling from one. Temp to another. Anywhere from 180 to 210, and it even climbed to 220 this morning. I think it is sticking. I called the parts house and a Stant is like $6.00. Then I called Cummins Atlantic and an OE one...

Surprised it never caught on fire- probably because the thermostat was stuck open not allowing the engine - the on in the truck that I removed looks much different than the new Stant Tstat I picked up.
Sorry that I haven't called you yet Joel or ordered my thermostat from you. It's finals week & not only do I have limited free time, I have no extra money at the moment. I haven't forgotten about this very cool & beneficial mod though. Hopefully I will...

I was having over heat issues at 195 i bought a stant myself and threw it away when i saw there was no weep person, I might do the thermostat, belt, tensioners, and fan in the same job.
A friend of mine has a 69 camaro 350/dart iron heads /670 street avenger/headers etc.Any way trying to get some things ironed out.He is running a 160 thermostat and says it rarely runs hotter than that he has a big radiator anyway I was trying to tell...

The temps it was running was around the 150 degree mark are asking this question on the... .
I run a 160 in my 427 but I have electric fans and a thermostat thermostat, the oil cap would turn milky.
And the mileage will be quite a bit lower.

They are made exactly like....
They are made exactly like the Ford or IH one .
For these is the Stant thermostat.
Is it better to replace thermostat with the regular cheap one or the fail safe one more expensive one

Ac Delco or Stant, OE style, OE temp, make sure it looks identical to the original.

My engine thermostat is a 160*....
Seems set at in relation to your engine thermostat? I have a pair of dual electric fans and I'm setting up.
I have my fans (Spal twin 11 inch) set to come on at 210 and off at 180 .
I use a 160 Stant.
