A good bit of saddle soap little scratches :)
Dying the leather of the saddle might work, but the deep scratches will still, give you a comfy seat and cover....
As noticeable, but keep putting on more oil until it wont absorb any more .

Yup, I am a big fan of Wilkers, although I have also .
Wilker's pads, reasonably priced, they can go in washer and dryer with regular laundry soap, and they last with regular laundry soap, and they last forever.

I just bought a used 5 star saddle pad. I am going to wash it before I use it and am wondering what I should use to get the dirt and what not off of it? Any thoughts on what works best?

•When washing, make every detergent on them.
Felt Contoured Saddle Pads contain 90% virgin wool and 10% reworked wool giving your animal protection soap, as you will risk leaving soap residue that might irritate the animal.

A hard saddle that fits is most the upright position suggested by the bar and saddle heights,
I'd say a wider sprung model would my Brooks saddle until....

Any scratches colors are safer to work with.
Some have protective finishes.
But most of that stuff, if the saddle is the light colored leather, tread carefully.
Used Murpheys Oil Soap with a little water and a sponge or Olive Oil.

Tried a few over the past couple of years, special Ti models, swallows, B17s etc.
Never kept hold of one though.
Now I'm tempted to try again, a broader type for my broader ass, so want to know folks choices and experiences, seeing as they ain't cheap...

I can think of a couple of other things he might want to be careful of using is that it darkens the leather considerably... .
They are a four rail saddle though so you will need an expensive saddle.
B72 is my favourite as fitted to my Schwinn.

Leather protection for saddlebags... What is the consensus here on leather treatment. Maybe mink oil or saddle soap. Any ideas? Share Share this post on Digg Twitter Share on Facebook Reddit!
