I still haven't decided on a good hard drive for my rig. With the prices as high as they are at the moment, it isn't easy to make a definite decision, so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I am looking for a simple, 1TB, 7200 RPM hard drive...

Well that for gaming thats enough btw are there soft drives too? Eirreann, I would suggest getting a 60gb SSD Seagate barracuda is also a good....
Hard drive just stuck it out longer.
drives were still the main source for data storage.

I installed two Samsung SH-D163C Optical Disk Drives in my PC, which has a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard.
I installed drivers and Nero7 Smart Start. I also ran the firm ware update tool from Samsung and have Firmware Version SB02 installed.

It's going to depend on the workload.
I'm by no matters expert on disk drive physics, but I see disproportionally many hard drives fail: let them spin forever.

Which Solid State Drives currently support the TRIM command? Do not include drives which use a specialised tool such as wiper.exe ; I am asking about the TRIM command. Please list one per answer, with a citation and firmware version if possible.

According to Anandtech , Intel X25-M G2 drives support TRIM , but....
The TRIM available on the Samsung MLC SSD As of November 4, 2009, the Corsair Extreme series of drives do, firmware version 1819, and OCZ Vertex, firmware 1.40.
