Probably more like they're wondering when the sarcasm will be turned on them. Most sarcasm comes off as mean to people who don't have a sarcastic sense of humor - and even when they do, a lot of sarcasm IS mean.

There has been a lot of issues with people not understanding sarcasm and humor on the threads here at MFP, even when the topic is placed in "Chit-chat, fun and games"
Perhaps there could be an option of a sarcasm font, or a smiley that warns people like...

I was thinking about the concepts of sarcasm and irony. I've always defined irony as "Saying something and very obviously meaning something different", and sarcasm as "Using irony to ridicule or mock someone", but opinions seem to differ...

Sarcasm is saying one thing and meaning the opposite. For example, if someone spills milk, another person might say, "Smart move!" It is sarcastic because the person, by spilling milk, is obviously not making a smart move.
