Why do some people here keep saying that atheism is a religion? If atheism is a religion then not collecting stamps is a hobby right?

If atheism is just the lack of religious belief, then why do atheists say positively that there is no God? Such a claim posits a belief, not just a negative lack of belief.

Quite a lot of Muslims and the RCC hierarchy aside, I'd say that OTW European theists are likely south and the last time anyone asked me where I go to church was about 12 years ago, so maybe common for older people to ask that question.

None of these are religions.
Atheism:
Is the idea of the acceptance that there's no god.
(I fall under this category.)
Agnosticism:
The idea of maybe there's a god and maybe there isn't a god.
In other words the idea of "I don't know".
