On Windows Server (2003/2008): is there a way to schedule Windows Updates (and reboots) exclusively on sundays, 1 a.m. (for example)?

Any client computer (or a server machine) receive updates only when they get approved by you.
The WSUS is able to collect all needed updates (with or without downloading them).
Server and you.

As far as I understand, CouchDB indexes are updated when a view is queried. Assuming there are more reads than writes, isn't this bad for scaling? How would I configure CouchDB to update indexes on writes, or better yet, on a schedule?

I just don't think.
This is why CouchDB updates could schedule a "regular" read through a cronjob and update your index with that.
For 100 writes (or however many rows you import) in a single run .

So, frequently I notice my computer is running like a dog and check task manager to find out that google desktop is indexing, virus scan is running, windows update is downloading stuff, other programs (java, google pack, etc) are downloading or applying...
