I'm looking for a basic laptop (to run Word and browse the net), should I consider buying a second hand laptop? It seems like it would be a risky endeavor, does anyone have any experience with buying second hand computers?

Im always fussy when buying 2nd hand wheels, but will definitely look more closely torque, without fully seating each bolt first by hand.

second hand prices are perhaps not as competitive as some of the other second hand sources but they'll have done a good job of scrubbing it up before placing charge VAT on second....
But equally their customers' gear too.

After Paypal and sellers' fees you could expect to net £500, I think .
Looking at closed auctions on Ebay, £580 or so seems to be the going rate there .

As much as I like the idea of the mechanical movement I still like to have grab and go watches. I do think that I would purchase more quartz watches if the second hand moved like the Bulova precisionist. I really like the way the second hand moves on ...

This is as opposed to a sub-second hand, which moves within a smaller dial and not around the full perimeter of the dial....
second hand is a second hand whose arc of motion is around the full perimeter of the dial.

Check rear windscreen - ask the owner/salesperson to give a gentle push in the... .
Check for any accident damage.
It came with a 3 year service plan so check when the last services were done, especially the major 75000km service .
Obvious check is the FSH.
