Is that mainly because of the profession and thus it is a safer bet not to wear them or simply down a handful of colleagues who do as well, but most don't.

I didn't want to risk the chance of having the rings cut .
I just took mine off this morning them off this morning and am now wearing them on a necklace.
I wear a cheap cz set I found on Amazon.
To get them cut off.
