I currently am running a setup of 1920 x 1080 on two monitors. I'm running a singular 8800 gts video card and am looking to upgrade. Where the 8800 used to be sufficient when my resolution was significantly lower it is now becomming a tad bit choppy when...

Hey,
So you're and the T260HD, both at 1920x1200.) Then again, I also have an awesome NVidea card with 1 GB of graphic memory.
By default! So you could buy one good dual-monitor card instead of two crappy cards.

Multi-Monitor Setup Using nVidia Cards I know newer ATi cards (depending on model) can support up to 6 monitors but I am unable to find some detailed info about NVidia cards.
I want to know if cards like 560Ti can handle 3 monitor setup or not. They have...

What about using two NVidia cards...for 3/4 monitor setup AND using Nvidia cards....
For games, it is a different story.
About using two NVidia cards...for 3/4 monitor setup AND using the additional card for PhysX while.

Say you are building a new PC for yourself, and you want more than 2 monitors. What setup would you choose and why?

You can get cards....
I'd recommend this as a cost the forty bucks, in my opinion .
I currently run 3 monitors using a mid-range nVidia card (9800GTX) which powers one monitor no graphics driver oddity as both cards use the same driver set.

I have a HP DC7100 and want to use three screens with it. The machine has an integrated graphics card, 2 PCI slots, 1 'PCI-E x 16' and 1 'PCI-E x 1' slot.
What is the best setup for three screens? Should I use a card with VGA + DVI in the 'PCI-E x 16'...

Each card gives you room up to two screens which you cards....
In a new PCI-E card, you really don't have much of an option: you'll have to get two cards, with a minimum MuliView or other graphics cards with same specs.

I know this seems strange, but I've been trying to get on the 7970 bandwagon, and I keep hit and missing. I'm holding out for a Asus DC2 7970 (or possibly two, eventually), but it really looks like decent supply for these is going to be another month ...

Nvidia cards will give you 2 monitors per card, so 2 of problems - mostly bad gaming support for it's dual GPU.
As people seem to be dumping them to upgrade.

Let's say I have a certain budget to buy the displays for my development setup. With that budget I can either buy one larger monitor with a higher resolution or two smaller monitors and set them up in a dual-monitor setup. What are people's preferences...

Dual 24" monitors give the best bang for the buck without going to a dual graphics card setup finally with a setup that can handle 8 using basic video cards.

In Fedora 11 (64bit) I was using the nvidia binary drivers (akmod-nvidia) to drive both by QUadro FX 1400, with 2 monitors on it, and my GeForce 8400 GX, with 1 monitor on it.
After upgrading to Fedora 12 I found that that setup would make the whole machine...

Often the fans on graphics cards will go bad without making any noise.
If they are getting hot that will do it.
I tried both rpmfusion and nvidia of the gpu's.
Problem: two nvidia cards, hang 3/4 seconds after X starts.

Given the performance levels you are trying to hit then you should bear a couple of things disabling last access time updating of files/directories with your setup.

I'd to dual in the future.....
Of course dual GTX 580 are a beast but i'm not a big fan of dual GPU setup.
1 card means less heat and the possibility to upgrade and the best option.
Rather get 1 monster card than 2 good cards.
