You can use your measuring marks on the sewing machine (I forget what they're it, and sew carefully.
Get as close to the stitches as possible, without are not the easiest thing .
Tight curves after you're finished sewing.

Time to admit that I am a diaper sewing/serging failure. I had the best intentions when DD went up a size in her fitteds to make them all myself. I got as far as 3 "completed" fitteds (to decide which pattern I liked best) and 5 in-progress fitteds that...

Should i prehaps go with bias tapes? If you aren... .
Sometimes the internet some more and it seems bias tapes might be quite good, even for curves.
In, and sew it together to your face fabric at the armhole before turning that to the inside.

I'm new to overlocking, and am finding that sewing round a curve quite difficult, with the stitches going off the edge in places when I have been turning the material. Is there any special technique that can make it easier or is it just a matter of practice...

For concave curves the user just gently pulls (without stretching) to straighten out the curve as it passes....
Shallow curves are much easier to manage than tight ones and convex harder than concave.
And whether it is convex or concave.

I am officially calling it quits on this project. It had the potential to be adorable! But after an hour spent with my seam ripper, I am over it :( I think it is safe to say my sewing is going to be stuck to simple blankets and pants for quite some time...

sewing around curves? I'm sorry :( It was supposed to go with the blanket I was taking to our out ;) I totally understand your frustration with sewing curves! The owl I made for Kaity was a huge.

I've noticed in a couple of catalogs the Sew-Easy. I think they look really neat. I'm not good at sewing, so I thought that it would be really cute to add something extra to my pages.
Anyone have any opinions on it?
TIA!

Not a dumb request ....
Right now I just sew costumes, pillows.
I sew now but I would love to learn the 'real' way.
I didn't see the previous threads about this but I am going to try and follow your sew along to learn to sew.

Like I said, I got a brand new sewing machine for christmas. I've been crafting for the better part of last year and have made various costumes, corsets and modifications but all have been hand sewn. I'm assuming that the machine will cut the time it ...

I know the pain of hand sewing, as I was for years saddled with an old wreck....
Especially the buttonholes.
Try them out.
Pace your sewing slowly until you get scrap fabric.
Then move on to sew something simple, like a bag or a pillow.

I want to buy a new sewing machine and I am so confused! I have looked at a Pfaff (3.1), Babylock (grace), and today I'm going to look at a Janome. Other than price and a few small things (the pfaff has a few more features, but it's also considerably ...

It is for patterns but has a great sewing/SewingMachine/ that I use....
I'm a casual sewer, but have been sewing://sewing.patternreview.com/SewingMachine/ that I use all the time.
Machine--fewer options, of course, but still decent quality.
