I have a hand knitted wool sweater (on the body) to portray. There are only two turnings--to under the arms. All suggestions on how to paint that texture are welcome.

Simplifying to represent the Knit of the sweater....
Study the pattern, study the difference in value between the light and shadow.
For complex things like knitting, or any kind of patterns really, I would employ a 'progressive values.

Have some double knit i'd like to knit up into a cardi or shrug for dd2. she 7 months- so size 12 months or 18 months, is what i'd start to knit.
i've done something beautiful shrug all ready. don't mind circular knitting or flat. would pay a few pounds...
