The machine I want to purchse requires a three phase and 230 volts.
I am not sure whether I have single phase or a three phase and amount of voltage. If it happens to be a single phase, are there any solutions to making it a three phase with 230+ voltage...

A transformer cannot make 3ø from single phase.
Another thing you will have to check how many amps a "transformer" .
If this is at a home it's most likely a single phase.

Several ways to do this, they all have drawbacks.
1. Purchase the largest available single phase motor, no change to pump speed.
2. Purchase single phase motor, slow down the pump speed with gearing changes.
3. Rotary Phase Converter (RPC)
4. Variable...

This is accomplished by the speed of the motor (usually 1725 or 3450 for single phase) and speed swap that out for a 10 horse single phase motor.

Is there a difference?
Let's say you have a Lenze ACTech SF250Y 5hp single phase input VFD running a 5 HP air compressor @ 230v.
Now you replace the VFD with a 10hp 3 phase 230v input on single phase power (so derated 50%)
Will both set-ups yeild 100%...

Short of installing 3 phase power, which I'm not, is this doable or not?
If so how and how much?

Don't know what you want to do? But I'm thinking of getting one next & cheaper to change the motor for a single phase one.
It is single phase and works well.
