My guess is that executing a shell is prohibited by site5 or that you don't have access to /bin/sh on the site hosted by site5 I need to skip it.
Services affected: All The server is not responding properly to all service requests and we are investigating this issue. We will update this thread with more information shortly.

In that case you would want more server than you need, or at least a server that is easily expandable.
It's impossible to say a dual core machine with 4GB memory would handle' the load .

This will force your script to stop for tiny amounts... .
You could scatter usleep ( int $micro_seconds ) through your code .
However, the kernel will give priority to any other (non-niced) processes that come along .
Even niced, it'll use 100% CPU if available.
