What really causes (your) skin cancer? I know I would would say it is a combination of factors. But if you had to pick one factor, what would it be? Why is the incidence of skin cancer increasing?

My partner was diagnosed with basal cell skin cancer yesterday. We are pretty freaked out. They have her scheduled for the mohrs procedure in six weeks (we don't understand why so far out, looking for another dermatologist to do this sooner......

My auntie died of leukemia. My 3 uncles died of throat, skin and lung cancer. My 2 grandparents died of cancer? does this mean I have cancer and am 1000x more likely to get it or what!??!?

So your family history of cancer does not necessarily mean that you are at a greatly of cancer.
Unfortunately cancer is common and it is not unusual for people to have several relatives with the disease.

Has anyone heard about this? A team at Case Western Reserve university used the drug Bexarotene and cured mice of AD. It's a very exciting study. They are in the midst of a Human trial right now and next there will be a larger trial performed by the NIH...
