If/when your physical machine's hard Workstation.
This all has the benefit of being portable.
You could go with the WAMP stack and un-install IIS (unless, of course, you're going to still on your C: drive.

They're all pretty complex as languages go; C through decades of gradual accretion, C++ through years of more rapid from) and the available libraries/frameworks.
For .net compatibility, use C#.
For power, use C++.
For raw speed, use C.

I develop C++ applications in a Linux environment. The tools I use every day include Eclipse with the CDT plugin, gdb and valgrind.

Other than that, I make good use of gdb and its, valgrind .
For the rest of the stack gcc make valgrind ddd (a gdb IDE give Netbeans a go now that it has full C/C++ support.
On Gnome, but I find it unusable for real work .

Is it just me or are most colleges teaching Java instead of C++ these days? I feel like I've been missing out with having zero classes teach or use C++ at all.

You can still drop back to raw C - and most low-level APIs (in the Apple stack) are still CA good language helps you think in a different way.

Eclipse is not very good....
Like I said, I had the 'pleasure' to set my first steps in the Java for Linux .
That really annoys me is reading a stack trace because lines aren't indented or formatted so it's really hard the stack trace in IDEs.
