I'm beginning to wonder if I should have just stuck with my oven. I got the slow cooker because I thought I needed it and it would be better than watching my oven for seven hours while it's cooking whatever I make. Is it better or did I just double up...

A lot of people find a slow cooker very handy.
It depends on your needs.
I use it more than the oven because I can run errands & don't need to worry about .
Have a slow cooker.

For those of you that own both-I know some of the PCs have a slow-cooker function on them, BUT which do you use the most,(prefer)?
I use the PC the most. It's so fast that I can do a roast while I clean the kitchen or do laundry, pay bills, walk dogs,...

I have both, and use both all the time The Versacooker can slow cook, (high or low beef and cabbage), I use the pressure....
Bake, brown, saute, and can be a slow cooker, or oven The insert is hard anodized, and can go for the day.

I brown onions and mince, then add it to the slow cooker with passata (tinned tomatoes would do) chopped garlic, beef stock and whatever portions for two.
I do a spag bol in the slow cooker that comes out really nice.

Oh and onions can struggle in a slow cooker, they don't break down the same the meat anyway.
I just bung it in and havent had any probs with it yet One of the many slow cooker recipe books intensify flavour.

Slow Cooked Rice Pudding
25g butter
100g sugar
100g desert rice
1ltr milk
Grease the pot with the butter (use it all up)
