You can put read-only domain controllers into branch offices as addt'l DC's in a domain with an SBS server, but the SBS server computer itself cannot run as an RDOC .

For best performance and ease of management, is it better to use 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x range of addresses for a small (<50 PCs) business network?
This would correspond to a subnet of 255.255.0.0 and 255.0.0.0 respectively.

However, WSS3.0 will work on SBS 2008 STD and Business Edition 2k8 license with a license of SQL (i think you can choose 2008 or 2005) to run your line of business.
That it will work with MySQL but give it a try .

What I would do is make a list of companies that fit your profile (size of the business, proximity to you), then either send them an email through their website or call them, Co.

I just bought Small Business Server 2008, and then realized... I don't really want to use Exchange locally. I'd prefer to have hosted Exchange. Doh.

AFAIK it['s perfectly save to uninstall Exchange, however, I would not waste any time on that .
There isn't really much point in running SBS without Exchange, but you have spent the money already so you might as well use the license .
