Hello I recently moved to a very small town (pop 1100) that has 2 licenced daycares attached to schools. They take children from 18 months and up. What do you think the prospects are for someone to start a home daycare? Seems like an uphill battle. I ...

Also, licenced daycares charge a set amount that is regulated by the government....
I totally understand! I also moved to a small community (pop 900 - 7 yrs ago) and started a home and perhaps ask if you can put an add in the school bulletin.

The perfect daycare for my child? My daughter is 3 years old, and talking and just about potty trained completely. I am looking to go back to work, so I will have to find a GOOD daycare. Any suggestions on what to ask the daycares or what to look for?...

Good luck! I prefer daycares that don't have a lot.
I love that the new school does a babysitters club (watch children from 5-10PM for a small fee once these up for every school that we toured.
I posted this on the boards I regular, but didn't really get much in way of advice. I'm hoping you ladies can give me more insight! I searched around the Bump a little, and couldn't really find a good advice post on the topic. I'll be a first time mom...

And I prefer a daycare....
In my area, in home daycares won't let you put down a deposit, many won't even talk to you for 5yrs)....
Of course preference.
I've never had any concerns about her safety.
That it's small and personal and homey.
So I am thinking about going to work part time and I have been looking at daycares. A few I just couldn't put my daughter there. However, there is a new one that just opened up and has all of the bells and whistles. A playground for each age group, webcams...

Is that amount worth it to you? Even if it is only a small amount.
The first one was inexpensive and I really liked it when he over after paying for daycare.
Has been in 2 daycares so far.
I'm so sad. Our two ladies who have provided home daycare for DS are selling their business. They rent a house together that they use as the facility, nobody actually lives there, but it's got the spirit of a home daycare. They're selling to another woman...

I'm nervous & I don't have experience with home daycares, but I chose this large thing? Regardless of whether it's a large or small place, you've gotta ask the right questions & trust a larger building with other....

Hi ladies, I would like to hear your suggestions. My baby is due any day now and I have started searching for the daycares just to get my peace of mind while I enjoy time with my newborn. So, I found one simple place where a woman watches children from...

I've been in the same situation as you....
They need tummy time, encouragement to grap toys etc to help with development I would also go for one with the license so you don't run into any legal issues if there are problems .
I would go for the better care.
I almost belong on this board but my question is definitely more suited here than 12-24. We just learned that our in home provider is moving and we need to find a new daycare. We've used several in homes and one center (that we didn't care for) because...

DS had his first trial run this morning.
Also, since his in home center provided very small teacher to child ratio, I chose a center that also had a small ratio.
At all of what the pp mentioned above.
What do you pay for daycare and what kind is it? DH and I pay $150 a week for full time care at a licensed provider's home. She has one helper and is licensed for up to 12 children but only has about 8 right now. DH and I are considering more of a nanny...

This is great for us to compare with such differnent cost... .
Daycares where I live go for 220-270 a week!! I pay $40 a day for a babysitter.
Right now SIL watches her.
The in home daycares/nannys we looked into cost more around 200 per week.
