only/color of one junior golfer's socks....
It or not, long socks with tailored shorts were a requirement at my club for some time before they choose in the short/sock combination within reason.

I was watching some DG vi'ds and see people wearing knee high socks.
Why?
Is it to help with scratches in the woods?
Does it help against Poison Ivy?
I know it won't help with bug bites.

I recently tried Spanx trouser socks. They are well made. Except, I can't wear them. I run into the same problem with most trouser socks or knee-high stockings.
They either squeeze the top of my calfs and cause pain OR they roll down my legs and where...

Macy's "charter club" brand.
Of trouser socks---they are very ample---these might work well for you.

My husband has been very PRO compression socks for his shins. He swears by them. He runs in them and wears them after. However my borther-in-law swears that they hurt to run in but likes them for recovery.
