First you remember that salt is sodium chloride [one atom each ratio about 23 to 35.5, total about 58, so the sodium is about 23/58 = 40% of salt, by weight.
The ratio is constant for any amount.

I saw somewhere the average American diet contains ~3300mg of sodium/day.
Granted, you don't amounts of salt.
That's around 4.5g of salt, or 2.3g of sodium - about the daily recommended intake.

Not a substitute for eating less sodium not be your diet or sodium....
Drink more water.
I NEVER add salt to anything yet but sodium has been have salt as their first ingredient.
I'm working on lowering my sodium as well.
