Get a plasma TV for watching television movies....
And its even worse on a SD broadcast.
All the issues you have described are the reasons I would never buy an LCD or LED/LCD as a television an LCD or LED/LCD as a television.

My old school Toshiba 1080i CRT that I had in a medium sized den has finally bit the dust.
I was thinking of replacing it with a 32" or 37" Vizio Razor LED LCD.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Vizio brand and I'm wondering...

OG Pooh until I see some long term results.
Beyond that (for LCD), I wouldn't look at much other than Samsung, Sharp or maybe LG.
I've had my 26" Vizio LCD HDTV for a few years now and have absolutely loved it! It looked great results.
