If there's no free unallocated space available, you can resize other partition to make space.
Boot from the Ubuntu install CD, use the partition editor included, then resize the swap partition.
I am in a situation where I am getting an error when I try to save a file to my Ubuntu server via ssh. It says there isn't any available space left. I don't know how that can be true. What should I do to determine how much space is left and/or what resources...

So, I set the install size of my Ubuntu to 10GB, thinking I didn't need a whole lot of space for it. Turns out though that I do need more, but I don't know how to resize it.

Hi, I have an Asus 64e laptop and after much headbanging and lots of tears I finally managed to get 11.10 running on it. However, now it keeps on giving me the error "There is only 100 MB left on the disk". I can't even download the updates. As far as...

We have an Ubuntu server vmware-instance which appears to be installed with the 64-bit version. Unfortunately we now want to move it to a 32-bit only host, so the current installation will not run. The installation is rather tweaked, so I'd really, really...

If that does not work, reinstall Ubuntu and copy the config files over in small batches to see '[[:space:]]install$' | \awk '{print $1....
Not having done this migration.
I know that it is not only the kernel that is 64-bit in Ubuntu.
I am using Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot and it has been working alright and updating like charm. Now it says there is not enough disc space when there are updates to be taken. The updates require about 180Mb of space whereas the disc has actually more ...

Post result of Code: df -h to see how much free space is available....
Most the times, packages require enough free space in /usr (for example free space in /home does not help).
Free space is dependent on your partitioning too.
