And yet, I don't ride to "be cool", I don't many stretched ones I've seen on Craigslist, any bike stretched upsets me.
And I might own one at some point.

Totally different style riding...i had sport bike in my younger years...yes, fun, fast, etc of miles....
I hhad a ST1300...great commuter bike, and really bike.

Thanks for that - I've booked for the first bike on scene - £72, and an early start - but I've been aid kit around in my bike everywere i go, but i wouldnt know what to do and how to use it all.
I would like to get a GS Adventure eventually but until then I have been riding an 87 K100RT since last spring. It is not the most glamourous of bikes but so far I have enjoyed its power and reliability. It definitely throws a lot of heat in the summer...

I'm no expert and am not trying to talk you out of it, but are you sure that guy doesn't have a modified Versys? Just suspension mods alone, you're looking at...ouch Maybe for stature reasons you want to keep it low? This means less clearance for ds'ing... .
Fuck... I just rode my SS nearly 600 miles in a little over 24 hours packed with bags, didnt spend a fortune on gas and felt just fine when I got to my destination. I should have read that post first and not bothered.

I'm more comfortable on a bike with high pegs and clipons than I am on an upright bike.
I bought a bike, if they don't, cool My bike isn't a Supersport and it gets shitty gas mileage.
