I ordered some samples of Perpetuem and HEED from Hammer Nutrition a few weeks ago... I've tried each of them once now, and can only describe the taste like it's as if I'm drinking water that's left over after washing dishes...

Dates blend in a vitamix just fine.
Not for taste, but it'd do the job.
To blend them then drain it through a sieve to get rid of the lumps it'd prob be quite a good sports drink with lemon/lime juice.
