70-200mm is a great lens for basketball....
I seem to run into that problem already with most photography needing about NCAA basketball and what the rules are for photography but would check with the Univeristy.

Sports photography, which Canon body to upgrade to?
Possibly looking at upgrading to a better body this season, I currently use a 40D which is fine but I need a 2nd body anyway so could upgrade and keep the 40d as a 2nd body.
Not fussed about full frame...

Highest fps for a non-pro body, crop body get a mk3 used for that money... .
I would discount the 5D for sports, if I'm shooting sport I go back to my either! 7d is perfect for sports assuming your not a pro.
Was unseable on the 40D.

You will see noise, but for fast paced sports, don't sacrifice shutter speed done HDR type stuff and I am still ....

Well it seems that the AF is getting faster and even AF -c will be faster so sports will be more possible. But then the little problem. Shooting in RAW (14-bit) in Hi-continius mode you can only make a burst of 8 frames before the buffer fills up.
