Just found this whilst trawling the Net and it made me laugh.
From BBC News:

Posters have gone up around a university campus instructing students on how to use the toilet properly.
Swansea University...

Hard toilet was developed....
And of course, Japan down toilets are universal.
I was in Japan a few years ago, and some places still had the squat-type toilets.

After talking with the Inyo Forest Supervisor Ed Armenta and Whitney District Ranger Margaret Wood, I realized they need some sort of push to get them to revisit this issue. They seem to realize they made a mistake in the NEPA process, but they aren't...

Long a tradition, and ecologically very logical, the Goan 'pigger' is going the way of the dodo. A conventional looking outhouse, with a little opening in the back to allow pigs to avail themselves of a warm meal seems to be a victim of prissy tourism...

Pig toilets, clay chai cups, banana leave plates, etc....etc...all a pig toilet? wow, there....
I always heard stories about them and even after a few weeks south, you know when "pigs can fly" .
Was not being privy to using a pig toilet.

There is something to be said for traveling in the US. You don't have to worry about being able to plug in your electric gizmos, but most importantly whether it's Key West or Seattle you'll always find a sit-down toilet where you can flush toilet paper...

It still....
They're saving it so...
Squat toilets- two footrests with a hole flushing toilets, but you're supposed to put the paper in a bin next to the toilet.
To Greece or Romania you're more likely than not going to be OK .

When I was growing up in Bulgaria all toilets were squatting.
Slowly but surely we adopted the sitting one. BIG MISTAKE.
Luckily some of the public ones are still squatting.
I never sit in the public toilets here.
It's revolting when thinking of the previous...

I'll always wait to get home.
Thing is, I never shit out in public toilets due to the hygiene factor.
Of paper rather than the actual toilet seat but I never see any of them!.

There is a crisis in Australian Higher Education.
Heck, if someone doesn't know how to use a toilet or how to dispose of sanitary napkins, they do not belong at University. I'm all for being egalitarian but peasants do not belong on campus.

Restaurants, malls, etc have western toilets....
Most public places have a choice of western and traditional Japanese toilets, as well.
It isn't like Japanese people do not have normal toilets in their homes.
Such a stupid and ignorant article.

Could be a problem round here, they have closed all the public loos! No squatting in French toilets.
Even in French toilets? I wish Ken Clarke had been Home Secretary instead of David Blunkett.
