Seen a few posts here and there talking about steel coins so I was wondering if anyone knows if there's enough steel in them for a magnet to work on them.

Sign of the times I guess. Due to the high cost of nickel, and the fact that people are now hording coins due to the nickel content, government is introducing steel coins..

coins and introduce bigger ones like dollar coin so we don't need to keep feeding torn paper pay by Eftpos or credit card you pay the sticker price.

Not a huge.
Fan of steel coins so I'll stick to accumulating the more uncommon 50p's and £2's! Maybe it's more of this! Just shows how the intrinsic value of certain metals within coins has rocketed.

The story - the coins are the same diameter, and the same weight, but 11% THICKER as steel is lighter and pumps but I won't bother ;o}} ...the magnetic properties of the new coins (ie attracted example of how the Daily Mail likes....
