I am not sure if this name is correct. Many, and I do mean many,
years ago in high school in Whitehall, OH we had a tomato dish
at lunch. I know it had butter and bread in it and wasn't tart
tasting. It may have been baked as it had somewhat of a glaze...

Check on www.everydarnrecipe.com My Mom did something like that and called it stewed tomatoes.

fried red tomatoes? I did and found them to be equally delicious.

Simple and filling little recipe for the winter. You could substitute the greens and beans with other varieties. The magazine I saw the recipe in listed a 26oz can of diced tomatoes while this one one lists 1 cup. I'd prolly go in between with a 15oz ...

YouMy favorite go to sauce is simply tomatoes, garlic, onion (you can sub shallots), basil and oregano can also use fresh tomatoes....
Pour in a 28 oz can of stewed or diced tomatoes.
You want to sweat them (cook without browning).

For Chili, this is pretty much how I make it too, except I used stewed tomato's thin, cut in half....
Add tomatoes, stock, tomato puree, garlic & a dash on Jiffy Mix boxes.
To add some chilli powder to however hot you like it .

2-3lbs cubed chicken breast
1 big bunch of asparagus
2 cans italian tomatoes
1 box bowtie pasta
Salt &pepper to taste
Cook pasta
Brown chicken, stir fry asparagus, add stewed tomatoes, cook until tomato juice thickens
Stir on cooked pasta.
Serve out of...
