I have 8 slots for ram on my motherboard. They are in pairs to take advantage of dual channel memory. Right now, I have 2 1GB sticks of ram, and I'd like to add 2 2GB sticks of ram for a total of 6GB. Is mixing the different sizes of ram going to cause...

Ram is so cheap now.
Yes you can, but personally, I wouldn't.
You don't want to mix like that espcially if the ram has different CAS timings and the like two 1gb sticks with the two 2gb sticks.

I was at the in-laws over the weekend and one of the machines was reported as having got much slower recently. After some investigation it seemed that windows was reporting only 384mb of ram, and this was most likely the culprit for the slowness. I opened...

It's a weird situation to recognize 1/2 of 1 stick of RAM - usually it's all or nothingHas the full amount of RAM been recognised in the past and only now stopped being seen?
If it has - does the full amount of RAM....
That out.

Should I go with one 4GB or two 2GB sticks of RAM for my new home server build.
Did anyone measure difference in power consumption between one and two RAM sticks configurations?
Also, how much is dual channel really important?

There are Sandy Bridge about power consumption....
Build then 1x 4GB stick of RAM is also going to be a little cheaper than 2x 2GB sticks of RAM consumption, the PSU will make a lot more difference than an extra RAM stick.

Hello, apparently, some 8GB RAM sticks have been confirmed to work on SR-2 for a total of 96GB. Does the general consensus confirm SR-2 work with any typical 8GB ram stick?
Or, have some people experienced that some 8GB ram sticks that are incompatible...

Hi,

If so, i would run 4x4 AMD Performance Edition (Patriot) RAM, rated for 1600 8-9-8-24 @ 1.65 V.
I wonder if the IMC can handle that ... at...

Finally figured out the problem after so long as it seems to work for like a week and then decide it wants to restart itself and then after a few times of doing that not wanting to boot. It's just seemed so random I couldn't work out what was wrong, however...

Agree, itis better to change your stick, and get....
Memory is so cheap now that you'd be better off replacing game and don't need lots of RAM for some application or whatnot).
I personally would not mix different RAM sticks.

Well, this is odd...I just got a brand new NZXT phantom, and nothing but problems has come out of it. Randomly stops seeing my 1tb storage device(have to reconnect it), and now one stick of ram suddenly craps out. Is there something wrong?

It either fried the ram slot, or the ram itself...No smell if problems persist.
My worst fear is :Static shock rebound.
