How can I stop websites from overriding the keyboard short cuts in firefox?
e.g., if you go to youtube, ctrl-t no longer opens a new tab, etc.
It there a plugging that will do that for me?

If you click on video player on youtube, then short-cuts stop from grabbing the keyboard completely because of how mozilla handles plugins, and I haven't been.
I think, this is problem with Flash.

Is it a wireless external keyboard? I have the same problem with my Logitech wireless external if a lead or something gets caught when closing a laptop lid in an external keyboard, monitor, mouse keyboard handlers....

If I clicked OK it would stop me from entering some "meta"-keyboard....
I'd get an error and it was secretly a MadExcept error .
Or is it a faulty Global Keyboard Hook? Try disabling exception.
Other such keys to see if the issue clears.

My guess is, since this is a chat program, you would also want to do this on some other.

In the 'Press shortcut keys' box and see what comes up in the 'Shortcut it to be assigned to View.ShowSmartTag .
Tools > Options > Keyboard type Ctrl-.
Check the keyboard mappings to see if there's another one conflicting with it.
