I am about to get a horse on loan and he will be moving into a new stable. There isnt rubber matting down although I may get some for next year. For an ave 12 x 12 stable how many bales of shavings would I need roughly to start a bed from scratch?

Up with 1 new bale each week When you get matting you wont need as many bales IF you dont want your horse is as to how many bales you might need each week.

Wrexham area A friend of mine can get hold of big bale straw for £40 ( I think I remember....

There is probably twice as much straw per baleI live in one.
They are being baled and get the bales done extra tight.

Why would you need to let the straw dry? You can bale long term bales....
bale straw and not have it spoil up to 22-24%, so if your taking the grain off close to dry, the straw to some that guys run 40 ft headers now.
Alternative to straw to bed youngstock any one using gyp paper or recycled wood ,there was also some comments on a thread about it possibly getting scab on spuds from this type of bedding , as we grow 200 acre and use plenty muck , cannot find the thread...

Mid summer last year, I picked up a bale of straw at Home depot. You know, the yellow stuff. I need to mulch a garden and I didn't have suitable grass clippings to do it. So, I mulched the garden with straw. a week later, I had a garden full of grass....

Breaks downIf you can get old straw or old hay that has been outside for a while it will be way better- plus free.

We bale round bales till the straw sticks than 4x4's I will bale most anything around 15%to 20%, I do many irrigated straw circles behindthat is a bit on the....
Quality and adds a little weight to the load when selling .
