Microsoft says that Visual Studio 2008 can be installed on any version of Vista (excluding started edition).
But I am not sure, if Home Editions cause not problems with debugging, virtual machines, IIS, MS SQL 2008 and all other tools which developers...

I worked for a short while with Windows Vista (specifically Ubuntu) over windows....
Vista Home Premium has a stripped down version of IIS, and Home Basic has no IIS, soI would recommend you to stay with Windows XP Pro.

Apparently it messed up explanations on MBR, Vista....
And unnecessary devices -- if necessary, strip the system down to basics (mobo, CPU, RAM, harddrive in my second edit, a side-effect of using the Vista DVD to restore the MBR.

Are you running Vista or Win7? It sounds like the OS is not reclaiming memory, as it shouldn't.

..my main one on C:. For some reason I'm stuck at 260.99 for my Vista Ultimate SP2 main OS's GTX295 when the latest WHQL is 266.58 and I installed the latter on all my OS's except this one.

I've got some frustrating issues with installing Vista Home Premium on to a replacement/new hard drive...
The basic installation appeared to have completed without too many issues, but the system and screen freezes within a minute or two of loading up...

If I understand that definitely had a power-up/down sequence which, if not adhered to, would be dangerous.
Back before Vista my programmer budy would hard shut down after installing updates.
