I have a friend with an extremely strong willed 2 year old. I have given her all the advice and resources that I can think of to help with her little girl, but she is still struggling. She is frustrated to the point of time outs + tantrums by the child...

Child wants something but can't explain and jsut reacts.
A lot times, it's a communication issue at this age .
At 2, I think ignoring is the best option, but then be sure to talk to the child after.

I prefer "brat" I had a perfectly happy chappy again, while I'm an emotional wreck! I maintain that DD has been strong willed with the second child....
Mind you he is 2.5 so a bit older but still a "strong willed" one....

The kid should be the poster child for hyperactivity.
Many parents who do not have a HN/Spirited child will simply not understand the depths handle him.
