The FM antenna is in the rear bumper.
That's what she said Stubby looks sharp, enjoy the drive! The fender antenna is only for AM stations.
3" is perfect.
I think the 1.5" would look a little inadequate IMO .

The antenna of my 1999 Passat broke off.
What replacement should I get? There are really stubby, 3" short ones, 9", and OEM style 16" ones (a few 5" also).
Is there a difference in performance?
Or just a matter of looks and preference?

There is a superceded VW antenna wire and C-pillar molding....
Also, I too own a '99 Passat.
Reception is markedly better than OEM.
John I had horrible reception with my 3" stubby antenna.
In the car in case of travel to rural areas .

Here is a pic of two antennas I got with a xts 2500 VHF.
As you can tell the one on the left looks to be a 800MHZ antenna. It only 5" and the thick one on the right is 4". Can anyone tell me what these antennas are designed for?
