My husband and I are bidding on a home that was built in the 1950's and does not have a sump pump and the basement has never flooded. Has anyone ever heard of a home with no sump pump that doesn't flood? thanks!

That's how high up we are....
Our house was built in 1952 w no sump pump.
I would check the flood zones in the area.
They haven't had any issues.
My in laws don't have a sump pump, because the house is far enough above sea level.

I will get a picture a little and I found a sump ....
If it's 1-1-/4 then use all 1-1/4 PVC.
Never step the pipe size down from the pump size.
The pump to stop the water from running back down the pipe when the pump shuts off.

I have a sump pit which is really small according to me... its like 18in wide and 25in high. Its really active pit during rainy days and pump runs every 20 secs or so.
I want to make changes so that my basement doesn't flood, like it did 3 times in 2 ...

I just purchased a home up here in cny I have noticed my sump runs once every minute and that the water coming in to the well is constant flow what can I do to address this. What could be my problem what should I do first they also had a back up water...

When the level rises, the float of the pipe coming out of the sump pump.
Most sump pumps have a float switch.
Change the setting on the pump.
