No Swallows We usually have swallows nesting in our outbuildings but none so far this year!

Does anyone know how to get the barn swallows to stop building nests in the barn? The ones that build those mud nests and swoop down at you. I cleaned the area they've picked with pine sol but that didn't work.

They do eat a lot of bugs.
Legally you cannot interfer with a barn swallow or its nest except underI enjoy the barn swallows though they make a mess.

Please, I don't need to be told they eat bugs. They are also very filthy and when they nest above my main entry door, they make a major mess. Don't want to harm them, just want to persuade them to go build their nest somewhere...

And the swallows' nest above a front door to be told they eat bugs.....
Place across from Pemex on the Libramiento will apply a stick substance wherever the swallows nest well-fed to bother with what he would consider garbage.

I set out a dozen blubird nest boxes over a month ago and went to check them this morning. I was saddened to discover 4 of the boxes had dead tree swallows in them.
I am unsure why they died and need help finding a solution.
Please help
