Sample Chatter Excerpts
How good is Symantec Endpoint Protection?
I've heard that Norton's antivirus software has been a resource hog for a number of years. Now we're looking at Symantec Endpoint Protection. I'd like to know how good it is, and if it better at handling resources than Norton has in the past? source
Symantec Corporate Edition?
My company runs Symantec Corporate Edition and we got hit with a virus. A nasty little bug that while it hasn't really done any damage besides knock people off the network, and waste the IT guys time. My districts IT guy told me today that it has morphed something like 3,300 times since December 29th. He also said it has been kept out of the media since it actually uses the Symantec Anti-virus to replicate itself. I guess they are speculating it was written by a disgruntled Symantec employee. Has anyone or their company seen or heard anything about this? My computer at work has been safe but I always download my weekly Symantec patch before I download my email. source
What do you think of Norton?
I was just wondering what everyone thought of Norton Systemworks 2004 and Norton internet secturity. Norton products worked on our old pentuim 2 pretty well, so just trying to figure out if they have stayed with their reliablity. source
Norton anti virus has run out and i cant afford to buy it?
Uninstall using the above suggestions, I use microsofts own AV product, its free and pretty good. Because its designed by Microsoft to be used on a microsoft operating system, the two fit well together and performance is not degraded as is with some other av products. source
Freeby norton security suite?
Finally moved to win7 but now my anti-virus doesn't work. Apparently comcast gives a freeby version of norton security suite. I never used that before and I wondered if there was anything wrong with it, and if it'd be enough protection for me and more importantly the downstairs computer, some people in this house will click on just about any shady link. source
