I need to have a character bitten by a dog... in the 1800's before rabies vaccine was invented. I need him to get sick...I want them to fear he has contracted rabies.. but as he is a key character i do not want him to actually have it. Distemper in dogs...

One suggestion though.
Been to a urologist and he has no idea.

I don't have answers for you, just a thought. When I get sick, it's usually in the middle of my period. Although I haven't researched it, I believe that my immune system is lower at that time. Probably totally normal, but weird. Hope you get the answers...
