They have been doing that for bloody ages, you don't need a license unless you watch live tv that pops up on iplayer now, stating that you need a tv license to watch the content.

Here in the USA we don't pay a license fee to have a TV, but I know other countries like the UK do. What is the cost of the licenses in other countries you know of? Also what happens if you're too poor to afford one. Is there like a "food stamp" program...

I was hoping someone here might be able to help out with a legal matter and if so, to provide links where possible to any helpful legislation. To summarise, I don't watch TV, I don't even have a TV and therefore, I don't want any bother from TV Licensing...
