This worked for me. I read carefully through the terms and conditions of the TV license site, I have copied and pasted below directly from the site. Basically, you only have to pay for a license if you watch or record live TV, so if you have a digibox...

I was hoping someone here might be able to help out with a legal matter and if so, to provide links where possible to any helpful legislation. To summarise, I don't watch TV, I don't even have a TV and therefore, I don't want any bother from TV Licensing...

Why do UK people need a tv license ? Everyone i know from other countries can't believe the fact we have to have a license to watch tv or use any electronics with a screen
So why is the UK the only country with it?

Have to pay to give birth ect like the usa BBC has no commercials thats why, TV license is basically how we pay for the BBC and as a UK citizen i think its pathetic £145 for colour TV license.

Just came across your thread and wondering what the result was? I'm in the same boat kind of, our license was due for renewal end of march and we haven't paid it, we've gotten 3 letters and I don't see us getting away with it, our lease is up end of september...

But it says An Post/TV license on the envelope so not.
My housemate is having none of it since we could say we never opened the letters etc .
Next year aren't going to pay our overdue tv license.
