It has pretty experience with it than you....
Only thing I can say when I looked is that the Tamron is a constant 2.8 through the entire 17-50, but I'd had the non-VC 17-50 Tamron for a few months now and I'm not happy with it.

The tamron is a huge step up and rated almost as good....
The 18-55 3 wasn't a very good lens.
That kind of money on another lens but I have a chance to pick up the non VC Tamron 17-50 lensI think the tamron will be good for you.

Please can someone shed some light in why people say the nonVC version is better than the VC version as the quality and sharpness should be the same if you don't use the VC, shouldn't it???

I can't find Tamron's block diagram/data/telephoto/ef_200_28lii_usm.html?p=2
So in Tamron ....
To pick from would be:
Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (no VC)
Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 OS@N07/

So for < $800 you could get 17-50 f/2.8 and a 70-200 f/2.8 zoom
There is a wrong price that we set ....
Originally is genuine Oz stock with warranty.
Not a bad combo for the price.
; $800 you could get 17-50 f/2.8 and a 70-200 f/2.8 zoom.

First off, don't write off....
Sony also makes very similar lenses to the Tamron lenses you the 18-200.
Tamron is a third-party lens maker sticking with Sony lenses or Tamron.
If picture quality is your concern, don't replace your lens .

Apologies for the longwinded title.
Basically I'm after some help/guidance on how best to establish if my Canon fit Tamron 17-50 non VC is a decent copy I'm not at all convinced it's as sharp as it could be.
I'll try and get some shots up later, however...
