Hands on it at all times until you get to the taxi booth and pay your fare, and then stand taxi booths located right before you go outside you should be ok- the person who escorts you to the cab politely.

The cost is less then $15 a person when taking a taxi.
Not sure why you want to share a taxi.
What about luggage? Four to a taxi with luggage might not work depending how many bags you/they have.
